We are Ian and Claire – the husband and wife team behind Cameron-Smith Designs. Based in the picturesque town of Kirkcudbright in South-West Scotland, we have a riverside workshop where Ian creates bespoke furniture and a bright, spacious studio where Claire creates prints.
I originally trained in Interior Design but my career has taken me on a fascinating journey which over the past 15 years has veered towards more practically creative endeavours in furniture design and manufacture. I’ve recently been involved in prestigious projects such as Annandale Distillery, and The Globe Inn, Robert Burns’ favourite pub in nearby Dumfries.
I am a self-taught printmaker with a particular interest in the Japanese woodblock tradition. My designs are often based on photographs I’ve taken, but I’m also fond of recreating existing Japanese print designs – mainly as that’s the only way I’ll ever get to own a hand-pulled version of that particular artwork!
